Miguel Bravo

 
   

Miguel D. Bravo was born to Cuban immigrants in Miami, Florida. Mr. Bravo graduated from Barry University with a Bachelor in Professional Studies and a certificate in Human Resources. He received a certificate in Professional Labor Relations and Studies from Florida International University. He obtained an Associate of Science Degree in Business Management, a certificate in Accounting Operations, a certificate in Business Supervision and Management and graduated with highest honors and with distinction from Miami Dade Community College. He also attended the University of Miami.
 
As a student Mr. Bravo under took an astonishing curriculum schedule of 33 credit hours or 11 classes a term and was involved in many student activities on and off campus. He was Senator of Student Government, Vice Chair of the Student Allocation and Programming Board, and Vice President of the "Otaku Collective: a Japanese anime student activities club. Mr. Bravo was an honors student with a 4.0 average, a member of Phi Theta Kappa, and had the privilege of taking summer classes at an Ivy League University to study arts, religion and literatures.

As a young community leader, Mr. Bravo has supported many of this community''s most important causes. His leadership is driven by his compassion and while a student he organized projects that promoted student involvement in the community. Volunteering at homeless shelters, feeding people with HIV/AIDS, caring for the elderly, assisting at cultural event and nurturing babies are among his interest. Mr. Bravo has been acknowledged as a leader with a long and successful history of creating working relationships with local and national business leaders.

Mr. Bravo''s contributions have been recognized by numerous distinguished organizations. Most recently, he was honored as Outstanding Young Leader by the United Way, the Association of Fundraising Professional, Dade Community Foundation, the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and the Donors Forum. He was also featured in Miami Dade Community College''s "Successful Alumni Campaign in local billboards and full-page ads in the Miami Herald which ran for a week. He was awarded Business Student of the Year by their Inter-American Campus, was also awarded a Student Leader award by the College''s Wolfson Campus and the Community Involvement Center presented a community excellences award to him. Mr. Bravo also received scholarships from the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, for which he has also volunteered with, Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities and numerous others. Mr. Bravo was also named "All Academic" by Florida Community College Activities Association.

Mr. Bravo started his modeling career in 1994 and worked on campaigns for Pepsi Co, Frito Lay as well as local films such as Any Given Sunday and the Substitute, just to name a few  while working in the food industry as a restaurant manager and becoming a State Certified Food Manager. Professionally, Mr. Bravo has worked in Public Relations, Advocacy, Program Services and as a Fundraiser for over five years. His career began as a Community and School Activities Leader for Miami Dade County Public Schools within the department of workforce development Education also known as EdWorks. His responsibilities included planning and researching marketing campaigns specifically targeted to the minority segment. He placed program advertisements in local community papers and promoted adult and technical education. Mr. Bravo was the Community Director for the Miami Dade/Monroe office of the March of Dimes where he received the President''s Award for his successful financial accomplishment and service. In this position he organized and created fundraising events, planned communication campaigns and carried out program services to save babies from birth defects. These included organizing the foundations largest walkathons, WalkAmerica in Miami, which is not only the largest walkathon in the country, but one of their largest events. He also created "Building Our Community Awards" an event to benefit the March of Dimes. This event honors leaders in the commercial and construction real estate development industries who have made positive contribution to the community in various award categories and the humanitarian of the year. Beside corporate recruitment and volunteer development and retention, Miguel worked with the Broad of Directors and other staff in planning goal objectives for the division. He is now the Community Representative for the American Cancer Society. In this position, Mr. Bravo was charge with planning a County wide Black Health Summit which the Society had attempted to organize for four previous years without successes. Mr. Bravo took this difficult task and for the first time executed a very successful Black Health Summit. He formed partnership with the National Office of the NAACP who provided a venue in their national convention in Miami for the Summit. He also led a very successful sponsorship drive which was a first for the Society in Miami. Among his other responsibilities were other fundraising events such as several "Relay for Life" a very complex community over night event and the largest cancer fundraiser in the world, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer which is a walkathon and planning and delivering program services to the community as well as managing corporate relationships and volunteer development. He was awarded several awards by volunteers on behalf of the Society for his commitment and dedication to them and the mission.
 
He holds a Real Estate License in the State and his hobbies are song writing as well as writing fundamental stories for children under seven years of age. He has written hundreds of songs and is now working on publishing "Silly Sue" a series of rhythm mix stories of a precocious little girl and her imaginative explorations through her journey of self-discovery in an ever-changing world that will inspire the reader to look at their own world in a different way.  AND this is the short Bio!
