The 24 Hour Film Race 2011 Challenges Aspiring Filmmakers to Make a Movie in a Day
April 30, 2011

The 24 Hour Film Race 2011 (www.filmracing.com) will be challenging aspiring filmmakers all over the world to write, shoot, and edit a short film in just 24 hours from April 29-30th.  The films premiere in theaters across North America and the top 24 films from the competition will screen in New York on July 16th at a gala screening and awards ceremony.

In the 24 Hour Film Race, filmmaking teams are e-mailed a theme (such as revenge or greed) and surprise elements (such as a prop or an action that must be performed in the film) at 10PM EST on Friday, April 29th.  The filmmakers then have 24 hours to create an original short film no longer than 4 minutes and upload their finished film to the competition website (www.filmracing.com) by the 10PM EST deadline on Saturday, April 30th.  Filmmakers have the option to premiere their film in theaters across North America, including the Bill Cosford Cinema in Miami.  The best film in Miami will go on to compete for top prizes, including $4,000 cash, against the other best 24 hour films from around the world.

The 24 Hour Film Race 2011 is operated by NYC Midnight Movie Making Madness, LLC, an organization that has been holding unique film and writing competitions since 2002.  Since launching Film Racing 2007, NYC Midnight has awarded over $180,000 in cash and prizes to the winning filmmakers. "In addition to the prizes, the 24 Hour Film Race gives anyone the chance to become a filmmaker overnight and see their work on the big screen in a crowded theater" says competition director, Charlie Weisman.

The entry fee is US$89 per team until the Early Entry Deadline of March 31, 2011 and US$99 per team until the Final Entry Deadline of April 27, 2011.  To screen in Miami or any of the other participating cities, there is an additional screening fee of US$40.  Visit the official competition website at www.filmracing.com to register, learn more and watch winning films from past races.  Interested teams can also enter the discount code "FILMRACER24" to receive $10 off the entry fee.
